The recent parliamentary elections in Jordan saw the Islamic Action Front, the Jordanian branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, making significant gains. The Front tripled its representation in the lower house, securing 31 out of 138 seats, up from 10 in the previous legislature.
With the majority of the population in Jordan being Palestinian, the Front capitalized on the sentiment surrounding the ongoing Gaza war. The election results were seen as a reflection of increased public support for resistance against Israeli policies.
According to Morad Al-Adilah, a senior member of the Muslim Brotherhood, the election served as a referendum on the Gaza war, with Jordanians showing their backing for the resistance. He highlighted comments made by Israeli far-right minister Itamar Ben-Gvir as a key factor in driving voter turnout.
