In a recent meeting of top security officials from BRICS and the Global South in Russia, Ali Akbar Ahmadian proposed the formation of a coalition of BRICS nations to combat sanctions. He emphasized the importance of uniting against sanctions in various sectors such as economy, energy, food, finance, and more.
By working together, BRICS and the Global South can bring about significant structural changes and establish new institutions like an anti-sanctions coalition. This coalition would focus on ensuring economic, trade, and financial security, as well as independent data governance.
Ahmadian highlighted the increasing global interest in a multilateral world and criticized existing international bodies for being influenced by the US. He argued that these organizations fail to promote peace and often support American strategies that lead to terrorism and tensions worldwide.
The meeting of BRICS and BRICS Plus security officials is taking place in St. Petersburg, where discussions on enhancing cooperation and addressing global security challenges are underway.
