Federal Government Criticizes KP CM for Unilateral Peace Talks with Afghanistan

The federal government and its allies strongly criticized Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur for his comments about leading peace talks with Afghanistan without consultation, accusing him of overstepping his authority.

Gandapur, addressing a gathering at KP House, expressed his determination to engage in talks with the Afghan Taliban to bring peace to the region. Defence Minister Khawaja Asif condemned Gandapur’s statement, calling it a direct attack on the federation.

Meanwhile, Gandapur met with Afghan Consul General in Peshawar to discuss mutual trade, regional peace, and stability.

Amid allegations of FIRs against Gandapur, Prime Minister’s aide Rana Sanaullah clarified that no FIR was filed against him. The PPP leader Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar criticized the CM’s remarks, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing national unity over politics.

PTI’s Latif Khosa supported Gandapur, highlighting the challenges faced by KP due to cross-border terrorism. He called for improved relations with Afghanistan to ensure regional peace.

The controversy highlights the delicate balance between provincial autonomy and federal authority in addressing security challenges in the region.
