The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, recently led a European Commission delegation to Beirut, Lebanon to discuss the latest developments with senior Lebanese officials.
During the visit, Borrell and his delegation met with Lebanese House Speaker Nabih Berri at Ain al-Tineh Residence, where they discussed the regional situation, particularly in light of Israel’s ongoing aggression against Gaza and Lebanon.
Berri expressed his appreciation for Borrell’s humanitarian stance and commitment to truth and justice regarding the Israeli assaults on Gaza and Lebanon. He emphasized Lebanon’s right to defend itself and discussed the country’s domestic political situation, including the presidential vacuum.
In addition to meeting with Berri, Borrell and the EU delegation also held discussions with Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati, Caretaker Foreign Minister Abdullah Bou Habib, and Army Chief General Joseph Aoun during their visit.
