Doctors agitate at state secretariat, demand live telecast in meeting with Mamata

Junior doctors in Kolkata have reached the West Bengal state secretariat, Nabanna, to discuss the ongoing RG Kar hospital issue with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The doctors demanded a 30-member delegation for talks, instead of the 15 mandated by the state government.

Insisting on a live stream of the meeting, the doctors expressed the need for transparency in resolving the issue and ensuring security for medical professionals across the state. Despite the rejection of live streaming by the state chief secretary, the doctors are determined to have it to keep their colleagues informed about the progress.

With doctors from 26 medical colleges participating in the protest movement, a delegation of less than 30 people was deemed impossible. The doctors emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability during the discussions, comparing it to live broadcasts of administrative meetings and court proceedings.

The doctors have confirmed their attendance at the meeting, showing willingness to negotiate but standing firm on their demands for justice and safety. The outcome of the meeting remains uncertain, but the doctors are determined to seek a resolution.
