China Emphasizes Strong Relations with Iran Amid Global Pressures
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi reiterated the commitment to maintaining strong ties with Iran, unaffected by external influences. Wang expressed this sentiment during a meeting with Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Secretary, Ali Akbar Ahmadian, at a BRICS summit in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Highlighting China’s support for Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, Wang emphasized the enduring nature of the bilateral partnership despite external pressures. The 25-year strategic cooperation agreement between the two nations remains a priority, with discussions ongoing for further collaborative opportunities, especially in transportation corridors.
Ahmadian affirmed Iran’s dedicated approach to enhancing relations with China and emphasized the importance of such cooperation in promoting regional and global peace and stability.
Despite facing US sanctions, China and Iran continue to strengthen their economic and political alliance, solidified through the strategic partnership agreement signed in 2021.
