The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has been granted permission by the Centre to use Aadhaar-based authentication for identity verification during registration and recruitment processes, following a similar move by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). This voluntary measure aims to prevent candidates from resorting to fraudulent means during examinations conducted by these agencies. The SSC, responsible for selecting non-gazetted posts in various government departments, must comply with Aadhaar guidelines and regulations.
In a related development, the government discharged Puja Khedkar from the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) for allegedly manipulating her eligibility criteria. The UPSC also plans to implement facial recognition and AI-based CCTV surveillance to prevent cheating in exams. These initiatives underscore the government’s commitment to ensuring fair and transparent recruitment processes for lakhs of candidates participating in these exams.
The UPSC conducts numerous exams annually, including the prestigious civil services examination, to fill key positions in the central government. This enhanced security measures aim to safeguard the integrity of these critical selection processes.
