US Secretary of State Blinken Announces $700M Aid Package for Ukraine
During a visit to Kyiv, Secretary of State Antony Blinken revealed a $700 million humanitarian aid package to support Ukraine in its fight against Russia. The assistance includes $325 million for the energy sector to repair Ukraine’s power grid damaged by Russian attacks, nearly $290 million for humanitarian support, and $102 million for demining efforts.
Blinken, along with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, met with President Zelensky to show US support against the Russian war. They discussed upcoming diplomatic engagements and the importance of global support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Secretary also met with Prime Minister Shmyhal to discuss military support and strengthening the country’s air defense systems.
Overall, the aid package aims to help Ukraine in various aspects of its battle against Russia, including energy infrastructure repair, humanitarian assistance, and demining operations to prevent civilian casualties.
