Ukraine is weighing the possibility of severing ties with Iran if reports of Russia using ballistic missiles supplied by Tehran are confirmed. This comes after U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken accused Russia of receiving missiles from Iran and anticipated their use in the near future.
In response, Ukraine has condemned any potential deliveries of weapons from Iran, particularly given the escalating missile and drone attacks from Russia. Foreign ministry spokesman Heorhiy Tykhyi stated that all options, including cutting relations with Tehran, are on the table.
President Volodymyr Zelenskiy vowed to unite global efforts against any country supporting Russia’s aggression. While Ukraine’s allies plan to impose sanctions on Iran, top officials in Kyiv stress the need for more military support to defend against Russian attacks.
Russia has not yet commented on the allegations, emphasizing a growing dialogue with Iran. This development follows Iran’s previous supply of drones to Moscow, with new reports indicating the potential transfer of ballistic missiles to Russia.
