In a rare move into public politics, Swift declared her support for Harris, following weeks of false AI videos posted by the Trump campaign showing her endorsing the Republican candidate.
Swift, with 283 million followers on Instagram, stated, “I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 presidential election.” She praised Harris for fighting for causes she believes in and called her a steady-handed leader who can bring calm to the country.
The singer also commended Harris’s running mate, Tim Walz, for his longstanding advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights and women’s rights. Swift signed off her statement as “Taylor Swift, Childless Cat Lady,” taking a swipe at comments made by Trump’s running mate about prominent Democrats.
