Muscat – OQ Group Seminar Highlights Importance of Emergency Management in Energy Sector

OQ Group, in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Centre, hosted a seminar dedicated to emergency management for the energy sector in Oman. The seminar aimed to address the challenges associated with risk management, devise effective prevention strategies, and establish robust response mechanisms.

The event attracted a diverse group of specialists in emergency management from various sectors, including representatives from government and private institutions. Discussions focused on evaluating and managing risks within the energy sector, emphasizing the sector’s connection to the national risk register and the importance of integrated emergency management strategies.

The seminar also delved into the role of the medical response sector in addressing injuries specific to the oil and gas industries and managing hazardous materials. Ali bin Mohammed al Lawati, Chief Executive for People, Technology, and Culture at OQ, emphasized the need for coordinated efforts to mitigate sector-specific accidents.

The primary goal of the seminar was to enhance preparedness and coordination for emergencies within the energy sector. By assessing risks, examining major accidents, and developing joint mechanisms for coordination, the seminar aimed to ensure the continuity and resilience of essential energy sector operations.
