Today’s cabinet session in Lebanon was postponed due to lack of quorum as retired servicemen blocked the entrances of the Grand Serail, the government’s headquarters.
Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati and several ministers were present during the postponement. The session was intended to discuss the 2025 draft state budget.
The retired servicemen are demanding the prioritization of “correction of wages” and the approval of their demands, urging the government to find funds through anti-corruption measures instead of burdening the poor with more taxes.
