While sitting in the hospital waiting room, I couldn’t help but scroll through the Ford government’s social media posts. Amongst them was one celebrating the big win for business – the expansion of alcohol sales to corner stores.
As I read through the post, I couldn’t help but wonder – who was asking for this change? I haven’t met a single person advocating for easier access to alcohol. Instead, I’ve encountered individuals who struggle with addiction and mental health issues, many of whom would be negatively impacted by this decision.
It’s essential to consider the consequences of such policy changes, especially when they prioritize business interests over public health and safety. As we move forward, let’s advocate for policies that benefit all members of our community, rather than just a select few.
