Ukraine is set to receive a new aid package from Latvia, including armored personnel carriers, following a meeting between Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and Latvian Prime Minister Evika Silina. The value and full list of arms in the package were not disclosed, but discussions also focused on expanding cooperation between defense companies of both countries.
Latvia has been a strong supporter of Ukraine, committing to provide military support at 0.25% of its GDP annually. They are part of a drone coalition with the U.K. to supply crucial capabilities to the Ukrainian forces. This year, Latvia has pledged 112 million euros for military support to Ukraine and will help in expanding the initiative.
Additionally, Sweden has taken steps towards supplying Ukraine with Gripen fighter jets. This comes after Ukraine received F-16 fighter jets from European allies. President Volodymyr Zelensky had announced test trials on Sweden’s Gripen jets, and now Stockholm has signaled possible transfer to Ukraine.
The collaboration between these countries showcases a strong commitment to supporting Ukraine’s defense and security.
