Kano FRCN worker re-arrested, remanded for bail breach

A staff member of FRCN Pyramid FM, Kano, Muktar Dahiru, was re-arrested and remanded for violating his bail conditions concerning criminal conspiracy and defamation charges. Despite being granted bail by Magistrate Ummah Kurawa, Dahiru was returned to custody due to discrepancies in surety requirements.

The court demanded three sureties, including the NUJ Chairman, which was later contested as Dahiru is a RATTAWU member. Attempts to replace the NUJ with RATTAWU on the bail condition have not been approved, leading to Dahiru’s detention.

RATTAWU Chairman Salisu Ali Tofa confirmed the situation, mentioning challenges in meeting new conditions before Dahiru’s release. The complainant accused Dahiru of insulting him on social media, prompting legal action to restore his integrity.

The court’s requirement for reconciliation between Dahiru and the complainant poses a hurdle for his release. Tofa remains hopeful for his colleague’s bail, emphasizing efforts to settle the dispute and comply with court orders.
