Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, during his first foreign trip to Iraq, expressed his gratitude for the productive discussions during a joint press conference with Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani in Baghdad. The two leaders signed 14 documents, marking the start of enhanced collaboration between the neighboring countries.
Pezeshkian emphasized the strategic importance of Iran and Iraq as the link between Europe and Asia and highlighted the necessity of implementing security agreements to combat terrorism and preserve regional stability. He announced the creation of specialized committees to execute the agreed-upon initiatives.
While in Iraq, Pezeshkian will visit key religious sites in Karbala and Najaf, as well as cities like Basra and Erbil. He emphasized that promoting regional development through cooperation is central to his administration’s foreign policy.
