Around 30,000 people marched on Tuesday, calling for safety and chanting “No safety, no duty.” While one suspect is in custody, the state government faces criticism for its handling of the case.
The doctors risk disciplinary action for their strike, but they prioritize the need for safe working conditions. The brutal incident has drawn comparisons to the 2012 Delhi bus gang rape, which became a major political issue. The doctors’ protest highlights the urgent need for justice and safety for women in India.
