Boosting Morocco’s Economic Progress: Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch meets with OECD Secretary General
Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch recently met with OECD Secretary General, Mathias Cormann, in Rabat to discuss the strong cooperation between Morocco and the international organization. They announced the successful completion of Country Program II, focusing on implementing structural reforms in public governance, economy, investment, social integration, and territorial development.
Under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, Morocco has made significant socio-economic progress, becoming an emerging regional economic power with ambitious strategies in renewable energy, green hydrogen, automotive, and aeronautics. Akhannouch and Cormann discussed the positive outcomes of the OECD’s economic survey of Morocco and expressed their commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation.
Morocco was the first in the region to sign a Country Program Memorandum of Understanding with the OECD. The first phase, from 2015-2018, supported Morocco’s reforms in various sectors. The successful completion of Country Program II marks another step in strengthening the partnership between Morocco and the OECD.
