Drones Strike Murmansk Region in Russia’s Arctic

Russian authorities reported a second military drone attack targeting northwestern Russia’s Murmansk region, with Governor Andrei Chibis stating that the region is under attack from enemy drones, possibly referring to Ukraine. Civil aviation authorities restricted air traffic at airports in Murmansk and Apatity. Air defense forces are working to destroy the drones, with unclear reports of damage.

Reports claimed that the drones flew from the border with Norway, heading towards the Arkhangelsk region. Russia’s Defense Ministry did not mention any drone sightings over Murmansk but mentioned downing Ukrainian drones elsewhere.

The city of Murmansk is located far from Ukraine’s border. This recent attack is the second in two days, with a previous incident in mid-August. The Moscow Times could not verify the claims of drones towards the Arkhangelsk region.
