Colombia Strengthens Defense with Anti-Drone Systems

Colombia is taking proactive steps to protect its citizens and infrastructure from the rising threat of drone attacks. The recent acquisition of two Orion 10-MP anti-drone systems will bolster the country’s defense capabilities. These advanced systems can detect up to ten drone threats simultaneously and identify flight characteristics with precision, providing essential security against terrorist groups using drones for attacks.

But Colombia doesn’t stop there. The country has also secured a $300 million deal for six Atlante II drone systems, equipped with 16 drones and six command centers. These long-range tactical drones will further enhance surveillance and reconnaissance missions in challenging environments.

In addition to drone technology, Colombia’s maritime forces are receiving an upgrade with advanced V-Bat 128 drones on light frigates. Provided by the U.S. Navy, these drones enhance intelligence gathering and surveillance operations, showcasing strong bilateral defense cooperation.

As Colombia modernizes its defense capabilities, it aligns with global trends in defense technology. These investments aim to create a safer environment for Colombian citizens and contribute to regional stability, setting a precedent for similar efforts across Latin America.
