China’s central government is reinforcing Hong Kong’s role in the Belt and Road Initiative, emphasizing the city’s importance in financial and professional services. At the Belt and Road Summit, Vietnam’s deputy prime minister urged Hong Kong to enhance business and tourism ties with his country.
Li Yongjie, China’s deputy international trade representative, highlighted the Ministry of Commerce’s commitment to expanding Hong Kong’s involvement in joint initiatives within the Belt and Road framework. This includes promoting cooperation projects and strengthening information exchanges with mainland businesses.
