Woman Allegedly Raped in Public in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh
In a shocking incident, a woman rag picker was allegedly raped after being forced to consume liquor in the Agar Naka area of Ujjain city in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. The accused has been arrested after the victim filed a complaint about the incident that occurred on a busy intersection in Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s constituency.
Video footage of the rape going viral has sparked outrage, with the Congress party criticizing the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party over the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. The man who filmed and shared the video has also been arrested by the police.
The incident has once again highlighted the issue of bystanders not intervening to help the victim. The city police have taken swift action, registering an FIR, arresting the suspect, and presenting him before the court. The victim, who confirmed the incident in court, has been medically examined, and the accused has been sent to judicial custody.
While the state Congress President criticized the government for its inaction, the state BJP President defended the government’s actions, stating that strict action will be taken against the perpetrators.
