The royal couple, King Charles III and Queen Camilla, are set to embark on a jam-packed tour across Sydney and Canberra from October 18 to 23. This visit marks King Charles’ first trip to Australia since ascending the throne and the first time a reigning monarch has visited the country since Queen Elizabeth’s trip in 2011. The couple’s itinerary includes various engagements, including an official welcome from Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
The visit may be subject to changes due to the King’s ongoing cancer treatment, which was diagnosed in February. Prime Minister Albanese expressed excitement about welcoming the royal couple back to Australia, as they last visited in 2018 during the Commonwealth Games.
During their stay, the royal couple will partake in a range of activities, including a fleet review of the Royal Australian Navy and solo engagements focusing on cancer research and literacy initiatives. They will also pay their respects at the Australian War Memorial and attend a reception for distinguished individuals.
