Junior medics on strike defy Supreme Court ruling

The Supreme Court continued hearing the Kolkata rape-murder case and directed striking medics to resume duties by 5 pm. Despite the order, protesting medics vowed to continue their cease work. The SC expressed concern over the absence of a ‘challan’ for the victim’s postmortem. CM Mamata Banerjee’s ‘return to festivities’ comment raised eyebrows after the hearing. Junior doctors will maintain their cease work to demand justice, rejecting the directives. Mamata clarified that construction at RG Kar hospital aimed to create facilities for doctors, not tamper with evidence. BJP accused Mamata of destroying evidence, while the SC directed WB govt to provide accommodation and security equipment to CISF at the hospital. TMC praised the SC for directing protesting doctors to resume work, emphasizing the importance of saving lives. The CBI was instructed to submit a fresh report on the case by September 17. Stay tuned for more updates on this ongoing case.
