Iraqi Airways flies 400,000 passengers in August

Record Number of Passengers for Iraqi Airways in August

August marked a significant milestone for Iraqi Airways with the highest number of flights and passengers since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2019. The Director General, Dhu Al-Fiqar Abdul-Hussein, announced that the national carrier operated 2,372 flights, showcasing their professionalism and effectiveness in air operations. The increase in flights and passengers was attributed to the company’s operational plan, focusing on customer satisfaction, competitive rates, and improved services for all passengers.

The positive trend is expected to continue in the upcoming months, with Iraqi Airways planning to serve over 50 destinations from Baghdad and modernize its fleet to accommodate the anticipated rise in international travel. A recent highlight was the launch of direct flights between Baghdad and Beijing, signaling the government’s efforts to expand the airline’s regional and international reach.

In June 2023, Iraqi Airways welcomed its first Boeing 787 Dreamliner, the first of 10 aircraft ordered to enhance the airline’s network and connect Iraq to more international destinations. As the airline continues to grow and innovate, the future looks promising for Iraqi Airways and its passengers.
