Cape Town Police nab 8 suspects for tender fraud and corruption

The Western Cape police have made a significant breakthrough in the fight against corruption by arresting eight suspects involved in tender fraud in Cape Town. According to the provincial police spokesperson, Brig Novela Potelwa, the arrests are related to alleged fraudulent activities in the city’s human settlements directorate.

The investigation team apprehended one of the suspects in the Eastern Cape, following a protracted investigation into corrupt activities within the directorate. In a joint operation involving the Western Cape SAPS commercial crimes unit and the anti-gang unit’s organised crime investigators, a 46-year-old suspect was arrested on Monday evening.

Potelwa revealed that the investigation began in March 2023, with detectives raiding the City of Cape Town offices and seizing incriminating evidence. This latest arrest marks a significant milestone in the ongoing fight against corruption in the region.
