The party is set to address the issues behind its significant decline and plan for the future. Secretary-general Fikile Mbalula attributed the decline to factors like poor governance in dealing with power cuts, the water crisis, and crime, along with internal conflicts.
He mentioned that some members have left to join the Zuma party, while others worked for the Zuma party while still in the ANC. The party leadership will take action against those involved with Zuma.
Zuma’s claim of a two-thirds majority win for the MK Party was unfounded as they only garnered 14.58% of the vote, mainly in KwaZulu-Natal. The ANC’s support dropped by 17%, falling below 50% in KwaZulu-Natal for the first time.
Mbalula emphasized the ANC’s plans to revisit KZN by the month’s end, hinting at a potential change in leadership but not as the sole remedy for the decline.
