CNN — Three people were killed and two wounded in an Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon. The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health reported that three emergency workers lost their lives in the attack while trying to contain a fire in Froun, Nabatieh district. The strike follows a previous attack on an ambulance team within 12 hours, deemed a violation of international law.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claimed the strike targeted terrorists from the Amal movement, a Hezbollah-allied Shia group. In response, Lebanon’s caretaker Prime Minister called for an emergency meeting to demand accountability for the attack.
Hezbollah retaliated by launching drones at an IDF headquarters in Israel, causing tension to escalate further. Civil Defense authorities expressed condolences to the victims and wished a speedy recovery to the injured. The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah continues to exacerbate tensions in the region.
This is a developing story. More updates to follow.
