Navigating the Challenges of Matching Degree Titles to Job Requirements in Morocco
Young graduates in Morocco are facing a daunting reality – the struggle to secure employment due to discrepancies in the naming of master’s programs across universities. This issue has resulted in many qualified candidates being excluded from job opportunities, particularly in the public sector, despite having relevant education.
The inconsistency in program titles has created obstacles for graduates, with similar programs often labeled differently at various universities. For example, a degree in “Business Law” at one institution may not match the specific title required for a job opening that seeks candidates with a degree in “Corporate Law” or “Legal Management of Corporations.”
As a result, recent job postings have highlighted the challenges faced by graduates, with many being disqualified from competitions due to mismatched program titles. In response, some universities have begun issuing certificates of specialization to validate qualifications, but this has not always resolved the issue.
Advocates are calling for a standardized framework that accurately reflects program content and meets job market requirements. Such standardization could remove significant barriers to employment and ensure that graduates’ qualifications are properly recognized and valued.
