Alliance Party deputy leader Stephen Farry has announced his resignation following his loss in the general election earlier this year. Farry, who has been deputy leader since 2016, expressed his gratitude to the party members for their support during his 30 years in politics.
At the Alliance Party Council meeting, Farry stated, “I have been privileged to have had so many opportunities in politics and to make a difference through being a councillor, MLA, minister and most recently as an MP.”
Farry’s resignation will lead to the election of a new deputy leader, with the Party Executive meeting on 12 September to determine the process. Farry will continue in his role until his replacement is appointed.
Despite his resignation, Farry remains committed to public service and is considering various opportunities to address societal challenges. He emphasized his dedication to the vision, values, and policies of the Alliance Party.
