Tragedy struck at the Allenby Crossing between the occupied West Bank and Jordan as three Israeli border guards lost their lives in a shooting incident, according to the Israeli Emergency Services. The crossing is managed by the Israel Airports Authority, which confirmed that the deceased guards were staff members.

The perpetrator, a Jordanian driver, remains unidentified. The Jordanian Interior Ministry has launched an investigation into the matter. The crossing has been closed until further notice following the attack, where the shooter killed three Israeli employees before being neutralized by a security guard.

All land crossings between Israel and Jordan have been temporarily shut down as a precaution. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the attack, referring to the assailant as a “despicable terrorist.”

The incident follows heightened tensions in the region, with clashes becoming more frequent. Jordan, a key American ally critical of Israel’s military actions, signed a peace deal with Israel in 1994.
