British protesters are calling for the US and UK governments to hold Israel accountable for the killing of Turkish-American activist Aysenur Ezgi Eygi in the West Bank. Eygi was shot dead by Israeli forces during a peaceful protest against illegal settlements in Beita. An autopsy revealed that she was killed by an Israeli sniper’s bullet to the head.
Eygi, 26, was a dual citizen of Turkey and the US and had been actively supporting Palestinian rights. Her death has outraged both local and international communities, with demands for justice and accountability.
Protester Charlie Burt expressed anger at the killing, stating that Israel must be held accountable. The UK government recently suspended 30 arms export licenses to Israel, but Burt believes all arms sales should be stopped.
Another protester, Vicki Narcin, condemned the killing as a typical act by the Israeli army and called for an end to arming Israel. The ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip has resulted in thousands of Palestinian deaths and widespread destruction.
It is time to stop the violence and hold Israel accountable for its actions.
