A Pakistani man residing in Canada, Muhammad Shahzeb Khan (20), also known as Shahzeb Jadoon, was arrested in the United States for planning an attack on Jews in New York City around the time of the October 7 anniversary of the Hamas attack on Israel. The Justice Department charged Khan with attempting to provide support to ISIS with the goal of killing as many Jewish people as possible.

Khan’s plan to carry out a mass shooting at a Jewish center in Brooklyn was foiled by FBI and Canadian law enforcement. He revealed his intentions to undercover officers and faces extradition to the US, where he could be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison if convicted.

FBI Director Christopher Wray commended the investigation that led to Khan’s arrest, emphasizing Khan’s alleged determination to target Jewish Americans. The Justice Department stated that Khan’s initial support for ISIS began in November 2023 through social media posts and encrypted messaging.

The US federal government plans to seek Khan’s extradition from Canada, showcasing their commitment to thwarting terrorist plots. Khan’s arrest underscores the ongoing vigilance against extremist activities to ensure the safety and security of all citizens.
