Pakistan Navy Inducts Two Warships PNS Babur and PNS Hunain on Defence Day
In a grand ceremony on Defence Day, the Pakistan Navy welcomed two new additions to its fleet – MILGEM Class Corvette PNS Babur and offshore patrol vessel PNS Hunain. The induction ceremony took place at PN Dockyard Karachi, with President Asif Ali Zardari as the Chief Guest.
PNS Babur, a multipurpose ship, was commissioned at Istanbul Naval Shipyard in 2023, while PNS Hunain, an offshore patrol vessel, was built and commissioned at DAMEN Shipyard in Romania in 2024. President Zardari emphasized the importance of a strong naval force in the face of increasing challenges in the Indian Ocean.
The President handed over the ships’ scrolls to the Commander of Pakistan Fleet, officially marking their induction into the Pakistan Navy Fleet. Chief of the Naval Staff praised the government’s support in enhancing the navy’s capabilities and commended the collaboration with shipyards in Turkey and Romania.
The event was attended by dignitaries from Turkiye, top military officials, and representatives from construction yards, highlighting the deep-rooted cooperation between friendly nations in strengthening Pakistan’s naval defense.
