Kuwait’s New Policy Promotes Healthy Eating in School Cafeterias
Kuwait has taken a proactive stance in addressing student obesity by implementing new guidelines for school cafeterias. The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition has introduced a Ministerial Resolution to ensure a secure and healthy learning environment for students in both public and private schools.
Dr. Shaima Al-Astour, Deputy Director General of the Community Nutrition Altairs Sector, states that the focus is on providing children and adolescents with nutritious food options. The new rules specify which foods are allowed, emphasizing choices that are low in sugar and salt while being rich in essential nutrients.
In addition to promoting better health outcomes, Kuwait is known for its wealth, modernity, and diverse expatriate population. While the country has undergone rapid modernization, it has also preserved its traditional values and hospitality, making it a popular destination for tourists and residents alike.
