Morocco’s Interior ministry announced the prevention of 45,015 irregular migration attempts in 2024, attributing the surge to regional instability and porous borders.
Specifically in August, authorities stopped around 11,323 irregular emigration cases in the Mdiq prefecture and 3,325 in the Nador province.
Furthermore, security services dismantled 177 criminal networks involved in migrant trafficking and rescued 10,589 migrants at sea, providing them with essential support like medical aid and shelter, aligning with a compassionate border management approach, as stated by the ministry.
