Guardian Nigeria News: Immigration educates on illegal migration and trafficking

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) Semé Command, in collaboration with Hearts and Hands Humanitarian Foundation (3HF), conducted an awareness campaign in Seme to educate communities on illegal migration and human trafficking. Personnel from NIS and 3HF engaged residents in Semé, emphasizing the importance of possessing correct travel documents and the dangers of trafficking and exploitation, especially of children.

The event included an awareness walk through the streets of Semé, where they interacted with the locals, danced, and played. The Controller of Seme Area Command, Comptroller Abdullahi Adamu, stressed the need to combat human trafficking and child exploitation. Representatives from 3HF highlighted poverty as a major factor contributing to child exploitation and called for vigilance among parents and guardians.

The event also addressed the reasons for the increase in the price of the Nigerian Passport, citing improvements in quality and faster processing times as factors. The collaboration between NIS and 3HF aims to raise awareness and prevent trafficking and exploitation in vulnerable communities like Semé.
