Govt. Head Visits Gotion High Tech Factory, Inquires About Kenitra Gigafactory

Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch recently visited the Gotion High Tech factory in Hefei, China, to review the progress of the Kenitra gigafactory project. During his visit, he met with the group’s chairman, Zen Li, to discuss the construction schedule and confirmed that the project is on track. The Kenitra gigafactory, with an initial investment of 14 billion dirhams and the creation of 17,000 jobs, is set to begin operations in the second quarter of 2026.

This strategic project, supported by the Moroccan government, will establish the first gigafactory in the Middle East & Africa region, contributing to the development of an electric battery ecosystem in Morocco. The project will also complement other initiatives in the region, such as the collaboration between JV CNGR and Al Mada in Jorf Lasfar.

The visit to the “Unified Cell Line” gigafactory in China, a collaboration between Volkswagen group and Gotion High Tech, showcased the advanced technologies and automation used in battery production. This firsthand experience reinforced confidence in Gotion High Tech’s ability to successfully implement the gigafactory project in Morocco.
