Remembering Aysenur Ezgi Eygi: The Brave Turkish-American Activist
Aysenur Ezgi Eygi, a brave and smart Turkish-American activist, was tragically killed by Israeli forces during a protest in the West Bank. Despite the dangers, she stood in solidarity with the Palestinian people, determined to show her support for their cause. Eygi’s friend Saif Sharabati, a Palestinian-American, described her as honest and courageous.
Visiting the West Bank for the first time, Eygi was deeply impacted by the harsh reality of the checkpoints and the situation on the ground. She had arrived to volunteer with the International Solidarity Movement to help protect Palestinian farmers.
Despite her nervousness, Eygi was determined to attend the protest against illegal Israeli settlements. She tragically lost her life when Israeli forces fired upon the demonstrators, claiming she posed a threat.
Her friend Sharabati fondly remembers her as an amazing person who always stood for justice. Eygi’s family is calling for an independent investigation into her murder, urging the US government to ensure full accountability for the guilty parties.
We will never forget Aysenur Ezgi Eygi and her unwavering commitment to justice and peace.
