Dissatisfaction Over Slow Pace of Trial: PA Speaker
The Punjab Assembly Speaker, Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan, expressed dissatisfaction with the slow pace of the May 9, 2023, case trial. He questioned why law-enforcers and prosecutors were taking so long to complete the prosecution process, hinting at delays in the system.
Khan also raised concerns about the delay in action against the perpetrators by the Inter Services-Public Relations (ISPR). He questioned the ability of officials to uncover the trail of the crimes that occurred on May 9.
During a media interaction, Khan referenced ISPR Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif’s recent statement about holding those involved in the May 9 episode, including Imran Khan, accountable. He highlighted the organized nature of the attacks on military installations and the burning of the national archive at Radio Pakistan’s Peshawar station.
Blaming ISPR for the slow progress in prosecuting the perpetrators.
Khan reiterated that the May 9 attacks were part of a conspiracy against the country and emphasized the need to speak the truth. He pointed out that the conspiracy dates back to 2014 and accused the perpetrators of hiding behind fundamental and human rights bodies.
The Punjab Assembly session also addressed issues in the riverine area of the Indus River, with members discussing the law and order situation. The session ended with a resolution honoring the soldiers and officers of the Pakistan Army who sacrificed their lives in the 1965 war.
