CTD arrests 33 suspected terrorists in Punjab in intelligence-led operations

The Punjab Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has been making significant strides in combating terrorism, with the recent arrest of 33 suspected terrorists in various intelligence-based operations (IBOs) conducted across the province. The department’s efforts have heightened due to increased security concerns in the country, as indicated by a rise in terrorist attacks nationwide, with 59 attacks occurring in August alone.

During the IBOs, suspects belonging to defunct organizations like Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan and Daish were apprehended. The raids also led to the seizure of explosives, weapons, and banned texts.

In a bid to effectively counter terrorism and prevent any untoward incidents, the CTD has been conducting extensive operations in different districts. Notably, the majority of suspects were arrested in Lahore, while others were apprehended in various locations across Punjab.

These efforts have resulted in the recovery of explosive materials, weapons, and propaganda material from banned organizations. The Punjab CTD has also conducted over 3,600 combing operations this week, leading to numerous arrests and recoveries.

As terrorist attacks continue to pose a threat, the commitment of security forces and the people of Pakistan remains steadfast in the ongoing fight against terrorism.
