Becirovic Urges Schmidt to Fire RS Education Minister Now

The Chairman of the BiH Presidency, Denis Becirovic, strongly condemned the decision of the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republika Srpska entity in Bosnia and Herzegovina to introduce teaching content that glorifies war criminals into primary school curricula. Becirovic called for the immediate dismissal of Minister Zeljka Stojcic and a ban on the new teaching programs for the upcoming school year.

He urged the High Representative in BiH, Christian Schmidt, to take concrete action to prevent the glorification of war criminals and uphold the Dayton Peace Agreement. Becirovic emphasized that war criminals like Ratko Mladic and Radovan Karadzic are not heroes but convicted criminals responsible for genocide and other crimes.

By teaching children that these individuals are heroes, the educational system in the RS entity undermines the principles of the Dayton Peace Agreement and violates the laws of BiH. Becirovic called on the European Union to show decisive opposition to the glorification of war criminals in Europe.
