Turkish security forces have successfully “neutralized” 27 PKK terrorists in a recent series of airstrikes in northern Iraq near the Turkish border. The National Defense Ministry confirmed the operation on Friday, stating that the attacks occurred over the past four days.
The ministry reported, “The total number of PKK terrorists neutralized in northern Iraq over the past 4 days has reached 27.” Air operations specifically targeted regions such as Metina, Zap, Gara, Hakurk, Qandil, and Asos, leading to the elimination of at least 20 terrorists initially.
Ongoing target assessments are currently underway in the region, according to the official statement. The ministry also revealed that additional airstrikes in the Hakurk region resulted in the elimination of seven more terrorists.
PKK terrorists often seek refuge in northern Iraq to plan attacks on Turkish soil. Over their 40-year terror campaign, the PKK has caused the deaths of over 40,000 individuals, including women, children, infants, and the elderly in Turkey.
