Unlocking Wealth and Reducing Poverty: SMEDAN Inaugurates N50 Billion Grants for Small Businesses in Delta
The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) has launched the Federal Government’s N50 billion grants for small businesses in Delta, signaling a ray of hope for entrepreneurs in the region.
At the inauguration ceremony in Asaba, SMEDAN Director-General, Mr. Charles Odii, emphasized the importance of empowering small businesses to combat poverty and prevent civil unrest. The initiative aims to support at least one million NANO businesses nationwide, providing each beneficiary with N50,000 to boost their operations.
Odii highlighted the correlation between poverty, anger, and violence, stressing the need to invest in capacity building and financial support for small business owners. He called on the Delta State Government to collaborate with SMEDAN to foster the growth of local enterprises and drive economic development.
The N50 billion fund represents a significant opportunity for business owners to access additional resources and generate wealth, ultimately benefiting the broader community. Through a transparent selection process, SMEDAN has already distributed grants in several states, receiving positive feedback from recipients committed to utilizing the funds effectively.
By promoting entrepreneurship and supporting small businesses, SMEDAN is paving the way for sustainable growth and prosperity in Delta and beyond.
