Supreme Court Reinstates NAB Amendments Law
The Supreme Court of Pakistan has reinstated the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) amendments law after accepting the review plea of the federal government. The decision was given by a five-member bench with a majority of 5-0, headed by Justice Qazi Faez Isa. The SC reserved its judgment on June 6 and stated that details of the decision will be shared later.
The amendments to the NAB laws were challenged by the federal and provincial governments, leading to intra-court appeals. The top court’s decision overruled the amendments made during the previous government’s tenure. Former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s petition against the changes in accountability laws was also upheld.
This verdict restores graft cases against public office holders that were previously closed due to the amendments. Stay updated with the latest news and updates on the NAB amendments law and its implications.
