Pistorius delivers self-propelled howitzers and air defense systems worth EUR 150M to Ukraine

Germany has committed to sending additional military support to Ukraine, including more self-propelled howitzers and air defense systems. German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced this decision during a meeting of the Ramstein format participants. The support will include 12 Panzerhaubitz 2000 self-propelled howitzers and 12 Iris-T air defense systems, with a total value of 150 million euros. The howitzers have a range of over 30 kilometers, providing a significant boost to Ukraine’s defense capabilities.

In addition to the military hardware, Germany has also been providing training to Ukrainian soldiers, with over 60,000 soldiers already trained in Germany on various weapons systems. Pistorius emphasized the importance of this training, noting the high motivation and quick learning abilities of the Ukrainian military.

This pledge comes after discussions with Ukrainian officials, including President Volodymyr Zelensky, highlighting the urgent need for ground systems for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The ongoing support from Germany demonstrates a commitment to helping Ukraine defend its sovereignty and security.
