A new bus line catering to the ultra-Orthodox Jewish community in London was launched to combat rising antisemitism in the city. The route connects Golders Green with Stamford Hill, eliminating the need for passengers to change buses at a problematic station. The initiative comes in light of a 278.9% increase in antisemitic hate crimes recorded in the past year.
The drivers have received special training to ensure the safety of passengers, with London Mayor Sadiq Khan pledging to support the community. The one-year trial of the bus line aims to make it a permanent fixture, operating from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. every 20 minutes.
Mayor Khan emphasized the importance of creating a safe environment for all Londoners, especially those facing discrimination. The London Jewish Forum welcomed the initiative, highlighting the need to boost the confidence of Jewish individuals using public transport.
