The winner of the prestigious BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition 2024, Seán O’Sullivan, is set to represent Ireland at the EU Contest for Young Scientists (EUCYS) in Poland. His winning project, ‘VerifyMe: A new approach to authorship attribution in the post-ChatGPT era’, will be showcased at the event from 9 – 14 September.
Seán’s innovative project focuses on the development of an AI detection system that can identify if a piece of work has been generated by AI by analyzing past examples of an author’s writing. The Taoiseach even personally met with Seán to offer his support before the competition.
Ireland has a strong history of success at the EUCYS, with 17 first place wins over the years. BT Ireland, the organizers of the BT Young Scientist Exhibition, expressed their pride in Seán’s representation of Ireland at such a significant STEM event in Europe.
Shay Walsh, Managing Director at BT Ireland, commended Seán’s exceptional talent and wished him luck at the upcoming competition. Seán’s participation highlights the high caliber of projects on display at the BTYSTE.
