Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz initiated the first school nutrition programme in Punjab at a Government Primary School in Dera Ghazi Khan. The program aims to combat malnutrition among schoolchildren by providing free milk packets daily up to class V.
Maryam emphasized the importance of prioritizing children’s health and highlighted the prevalence of nutritional deficiencies in the region. The pilot project will benefit over 400,000 malnourished students in 3,527 schools across Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, and Muzaffargarh.
The initiative received praise for reducing the cost of milk packets and ensuring sustainability through recycling the empty packets. During her visit, Maryam engaged with students, distributed milk packs, and addressed their education and health concerns.
Provincial Minister for School Education, Rana Sikandar Hayat, updated the CM on the project. The event was attended by senior officials, including Marriyum Aurangzeb and Zahid Bukhari.
