BSF urges BGB to halt infiltration into India from Bangladesh

Last Updated:

The Border Security Force (BSF) has asked its Bangladeshi counterpart, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), to prevent citizens of the neighboring country from illegal entry into India post the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government in August.

BSF and BGB conducted 1,367 simultaneous coordinated patrolling (SCP) in vulnerable border patches after 722 meetings post-August 12.

BSF remains committed to safeguarding the 4,096-km international boundary with Bangladesh and ensuring border population’s safety.

BGB officials have been urged to stop Bangladeshi nationals from illegally entering India, with assurances made by BGB to protect Indian citizens and minority communities in Bangladesh.

Regular communication and information sharing between BSF and BGB on operational matters are in place.

Community meetings and discussions with villagers along the border are conducted to enhance border security preparedness.

A committee was formed by MHA to ensure safety, security, and well-being of Indian nationals and minority communities in Bangladesh.

Interim government led by Muhammad Yunus is governing Bangladesh after Hasina’s departure to India due to unrest in the country.

The India-Bangladesh boundary spans across five states, with collaborative efforts ongoing for enhanced border security.
